Luke was already a contractor payroll specialist when he joined Champion as a Payroll Supervisor in 2021 and was promoted to Payroll Manager in December last year.
Luke manages a team of payroll administrators and is responsible for our umbrella contractors' accurate and timely payment. It's a hugely responsible and challenging role, but Luke has proved to be more than capable of handling the pressure.
When asked what had appealed to him about working for Champion Contractors, Luke said, “for a new challenge and career progression”. It's fair to say that since joining the team, he's had both.
As payroll manager, Luke is responsible for managing the payroll department. His role includes processing all BACS and faster payments, managing the auto-enrollment and salary sacrifice pension schemes, reconciling bank accounts daily, and responding to complex payroll queries.
Luckily for us, Luke's cool and calm approach means that nothing ever gets too heated, and our contractors always get the support they need. His relaxed and personable nature is a pleasure to have around the office.
However, when it comes to payroll and customer service, Luke is laser-focused on getting it right. Our contractors and agency partners can rest assured that they're in safe hands with Luke and his team overseeing their payroll.
When he's not paying our contractors, football is Luke's passion. Whether it's playing or watching, football is Luke's chance to enjoy a game and let all the stresses of the working week wash away. And when the match is over, he enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends.
